It’s that time of year again: Summer reading! Our summer reading kickoff will be on 6/20 at 12pm, where we will have a sign up booth, games, and even an “instrument petting zoo” where kids will be able to try and play different kinds of instruments. Patrons can sign up either online through our Google Form, or our physical sign up sheet. Last day of Summer Reading is August 22. Please get your tickets by that date.
How to Summer Read:
- Sign up in person or with our Google Form.
- Read! Keep track of titles in a reading log (printable form).
- Get your log stamped and get raffle tickets!*
*kids: 5 books = 1 ticket teens: 2 books = 1 ticket
This year we are doing two different types of tickets: our younger reader tickets, and YA tickets. I know we have had some trouble in the past with patrons unsure if a juvenile book can be considered as YA, so this year our policy will be that any juvenile book (with a juvenile sticker) can be considered a YA book if it is over 400 pages. Accordingly, we will give out our blue YA tickets for every two YA books AND/OR two juvenile books over 400 pages. The tickets for our younger readers will be the white ones, and the policy for that remains every five books equals one ticket.
We will have our usual five baskets and at the end of August will also be giving out our free participatory books again. For the baskets, if your ticket is not blue, please do not put it in the teen basket because it will not be considered for the raffle.
